The historic island capital
The former capital of Lanzarote is a beautifully kept village of whitewashed mansions, cobbled lanes and old churches, watched over by the Castillo de Santa Bárbara on its volcano. Every Sunday morning it fills for one of the Canaries’ biggest street markets, with crafts, music and food stalls across the square.
