Caldera Blanca
The giant crater hike

A favourite half-day hike from near Mancha Blanca. The path crosses a sea of black lava, passes the smaller Caldereta crater, then climbs to the rim of Caldera Blanca, one of the largest craters on the island and far older than the Timanfaya eruptions around it. Walking the rim gives sweeping views over the lava fields to the coast. Take water, sun protection and proper shoes.
Highlights
- Rim walk around a huge crater
- Views over the lava fields to the sea
- Passes the smaller Caldereta
- Half-day hike, moderate climb
