Timanfaya National Park

Lanzarote’s Fire Mountains

A Martian landscape of more than 100 volcanoes, born from the 1730–1736 eruptions that reshaped the island. From the Islote de Hilario visitor centre, park staff pour water into the ground to send a geyser of steam skyward and grill food over the natural geothermal heat. The classic way to see the craters is the Ruta de los Volcanes coach tour that winds through the caldera; camel rides run from the foot of the park.
